"To study the way of enlightenment is to study the self. To study the self is to forget the self. To forget the self is to be actualized by myriad things. When actualized by myriad things, your body and mind as well as the bodies and minds of others drop away. No trace of enlightenment remains, and this no-trace continues endlessly."

Come and be a part of our online sangha as we meet together each week to cultivate and deepen our meditation (zazen) practice and learn how to apply the Buddha’s teaching to our everyday lives.
Together we will read and discuss Suzuki Roshi’s time-honored classic, Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind. Although small in size, this book packs a major punch! Its pointing out instructions help us to open the vista of perception to directly encounter our limitless Buddha nature in every moment, in every breath. It's clarity, simplicity, and profundity are palpably felt in its pages. Suzuki Roshi's No-Mind permeates every word.
Whether you are new to Buddhadharma or a seasoned practitioner, there is something here for you. We will be covering the basics of Buddhism, as well as unpacking the more nuanced insights found in koan practice, sutra readings, and Zen poetry. The result will be a delightful amalgam where everyone will find their seat directly in front of the full Moon.
The beauty of Zen is its ability to transcend and include all other spiritual disciplines and traditions. Because it focuses on direct experience of one’s own nature beyond thought, words, and beliefs, Zen practice allows one to penetrate through the veils of self-limiting obscurations and discover the cloudless sky of No-Mind and No-Thought. In the words of Suzuki Roshi, "In the beginner's mind there is no thought, 'I have attained something.' All self-centered thoughts limit our vast mind. When we have no thought of achievment, no thought of self, we are true beginners. Then we can really learn something."
In our harsh, frenetic, and unpredictable world, a tranquil mind is the rarest and most precious of commodities. If you are interested in immersing yourself in an ancient practice that will tame and settle the mind in a state of unshakable peace and penetrating insight, then join us!
